Story Summary

Daniel loved God and prayed faithfully every day. Some jealous leaders convinced the king to make a law that no one could pray to God. Daniel chose to obey God instead of giving in to fear, and he was thrown into a den filled with hungry lions. During the night, God sent His angel to protect Daniel, and the lions did not harm him. The next morning, Daniel was safe, and everyone saw that God had been with him.

What Children Can Learn

Children can learn that trusting God does not mean we will never face difficult situations. Daniel still spent a night in the lions’ den, but God never left him.

This story also reminds children that courage grows when we choose to obey God, even when it is hard. God is always near and cares for His children.

Key Lesson

God is always with me, and I never have to face my fears alone.

Bible Verse

“My God sent His angel, and He shut the mouths of the lions.”

Daniel 6:22

Why This Story Matters

Children face many different fears. They may worry about the dark, making new friends, taking a test, visiting the doctor, or trying something new. Daniel’s story reminds them that God is present through every challenge.

Parents can use this story to talk about courage, obedience, and trusting God in everyday life. Daniel did not know exactly how God would protect him, but he chose to remain faithful. That example helps children understand that faith means trusting God even when we cannot see what He is doing.

This story is especially meaningful at bedtime because it gently reminds children that the same God who watched over Daniel also watches over them as they sleep.
